anal fissure
What is an Anal Fissure?
Anal Fissure is an often recurring painful condition in which there is a midline breach, wound or split in the lining of the anus. The split is largely internal, but may be seen from outside on close Specialist inspection.
The lower end of the anal split may have a small tag of skin that is often misleadingly thought to be the source of pain.
What treatments are available for Anal Fissure?
Conservative Treatments include General Soothing Creams e.g. Anusol, Proctosedyl, as well as Specialist Creams e.g. Glyceryl Trinitrate Cream
Surgical Procedures include Lateral Internal Anal Sphincterotomy and Botulinium Toxin (Botox®) Injection
